All About Port City Air
NAA’s Career Services team and Veteran students recently toured Port City Air (PCA) in Portsmouth, NH. PCA is located on Pease Air Force Base and handles the fueling duties for all military and commercial aircraft transitioning before their final destinations. They also perform maintenance on various aircraft types ranging from General Aviation and helicopters to Corporate, Commercial, and Military aircraft. We saw Cessna 172s, Pipers, Robinson R44s, Citations, and Airbus 350 helicopters. They are an authorized repair station for Airbus, Robinson, and Leonardo helicopters. We even saw a King Air taking off after being serviced. The very aircraft our students become familiar with at NAA.
Rapid Expansion of Services
Jamie McCarthy, Director of FBO Operations, said PCA is rapidly expanding its operations and is looking to hire qualified students with an A&P but is explicitly looking for Veteran students with aviation MOS backgrounds. They also have line service technician jobs available for non-A&P students or grads and GSE mechanic positions. The base is open 24 hours, so line techs are in high demand. They have significant real estate on the airfield alongside PlaneSense and the Air National Guard.
It’s All in the Details
As if that weren’t enough, PCA also owns a catering company that supplies food for the different aircraft arriving and departing Pease. They have a food truck and a retro 1948 Ford truck modified to serve fountain drinks.
It was a uniquely special day for our Veteran students, who were able to see firsthand the kind of opportunities available to them after NAA. PCA is interested in welcoming more NAA students in the future. We couldn’t be more grateful for their hospitality and the work they do!
