First Steps
The aviation maintenance industry is regulated by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). The FAA has set forth strict requirements to become an aircraft mechanic, including that the individual:
- be at least 18 years of age
- be able to read, write, and understand English
- possess a high school diploma or GED
Learn by Doing
The FAA also requires A&Ps-to-be to gain hands-on experience and pass examinations. To do this, you can attend an FAA-approved aviation maintenance technician school. Earning your A&P license at National Aviation Academy is faster than gaining experience through on-the-job training. It also helps you better prepare exams and connects you directly to hiring companies once you graduate!
NAA’s-accredited A&P programs can be completed in as little as 14 months! During these few months, you’ll meet the training requirements set forth by the FAA. A specified number of training hours are required by the FAA to become an A&P. NAA’s programs are an accelerated path to complete these hours!
During the short 14-month course, you can take the necessary tests to prove competency to the FAA. An added benefit is that you can test as you complete each subject, so the information will be fresh in your mind!
A&P certification exams are completed once you have successfully completed the required curriculum for that certification and satisfied the hour requirement.
Fastest Way to Get an A&P License
The journey towards a fulfilling career takes time and effort but can be accomplished. Since the Federal Aviation Administration has set requirements, each individual must satisfy the requirements before becoming a licensed A&P. Education is the most important aspect of earning certifications and preparing for the aviation maintenance workforce.
Luckily, we’re here to help. In our 14-month Airframe and Powerplant course, you’ll approach the curriculum three ways:
- classroom instruction accompanied by text and workbook review
- team-oriented projects in a laboratory setting which simulate on-the-job scenarios
