Tampa Bay Student Council – February 2018

NAA—Tampa Bay’s Student Council held a meeting on Tuesday, February 27, 2018. Students and staff collaborated on follow-up items and new business.

Follow-up items included:

  • Upgrades to the student break area, including all new microwaves
  • New cleaning staff have been hired and have received positive feedback from students and staff alike
  • A 50 foot flagpole has been ordered with installation plans in progress

New business included:

  • Updates to make-up hours processes
  • Student feedback on Professional Pursuit flashcards

The next Student Council meeting is tentatively scheduled for March 15, 2018!

Recapping NAA’s Resource Fair

With 32 organizations in attendance, NAA’s February 2018 Resource Fair was a tremendous success! Over 200 students and staff were serviced by community partners with offerings that varied from health care to mortgage services to Costco memberships!

Highlights included: the completion of eleven VA Health Care applications for NAA students and the opportunity to bolster community partners such as 211 Tampa Bay Cares Inc. who provide emergency response as well a variety of other services and Community Action Stops Abuse (CASA) who offer a support network to those facing abuse.

Students, staff and community members were able to come together and build relationships. The event went off without a hitch thanks to our attendees, community partners and organizers (especially NAA’s own Student Services department)! We look forward to seeing you at our next Resource Fair which is tentatively scheduled for October 2018.

Tampa Bay Graduation – February 2018

NAA—Tampa Bay hosted a graduation ceremony for Classes 11/16 AMT and 6/17 AMP on Thursday, February 8, 2018 at the Central Park Performing Arts Center in Largo, FL. Family and friends gathered to celebrate with students who successfully completed NAA’s Aviation Maintenance Technician and Aviation Maintenance Professional programs.

Graduations are an opportunity to recognize the many achievements of each graduate and our February 2018 ceremony was no exception! Individuals from these graduating classes have already been hired by industry leaders such as Draken, General Atomics, Gulfstream (Savannah and Brunswick locations), HAECO, PEMCO, Tru Simulation and West Coast Aviation

Additionally, students who exhibited outstanding achievement were honored with specialized awards. Andre T. was named Top Technician-AMT and Kalvin S. earned Top Technician-AMP. Awards were also presented for AMP Perfect Attendance, AMP Outstanding Attendance, AMT Perfect Attendance, AMT Outstanding Attendance, AMT Top Powerplant Team and AMT Top Airframe Team.
