Instructor Chris Burchell has recently been heard praising a certain NAA student. According to Burchell, 6th Term student Joe Filippazzo is a skilled future A&P mechanic… he is also a gifted writer. Tired of a lack of comprehensive information in a single place, Filippazzo began researching the tools commonly used in aviation maintenance. He has since finished writing his own Basic A&P Tool Guide.

Burchell read the guide and immediately knew it was something special. Though not meant to be taken as rule, it is a detailed overview of tool types and common brands. The guide also succeeds in sharing a student perspective in an interesting and engaging way.

Filippazzo went above and beyond student expectations in creating his tool guide. Drawing on techniques learned in classroom, personal experience and industry reputations, he was able to create reference material that is beneficial to anyone interested in aviation maintenance.

Students grow tremendously in the time they are on campus. NAA’s accelerated curriculum ensures that they master all that is required, in the shortest amount of time possible, to begin their careers in aviation. Learning begins on day one and doesn’t stop at graduation. Special thanks to Joe Filippazzo for your time, talent and letting us learn from you!
