Excitement is building for NAA’s first Career Fair of 2018. With industry representatives from across the country here in the Tampa Bay Area, many are taking extra time to visit with students and discuss what their companies are looking for in new hire personnel.  Please see the schedule below to know who will be onsite and when.

NAA’s courses in Aviation Maintenance and Advanced Aircraft Systems have been designed so that individuals may gain an in-depth education, preparing them for work in the aviation maintenance industry. According to Boeing’s 2017-2036 Pilot & Technician Outlook over 648,000 new aviation maintenance technicians will be needed over the next 20 years. Aviation Maintenance Trends for 2018

2018 is a great time to be (or become) an aircraft mechanic.  The global increase in air travel is driving trends in aircraft purchasing and, of course, more aircraft means more mechanics will be needed to maintain them. In fact, Boeing has found that 648,000 new aviation maintenance technicians will be needed to meet the demands of the industry over the next twenty years.*

Two dominant trends will affect the aviation maintenance workforce in 2018: the need for new skillsets and an increasing demand for qualified technicians.

New Skillsets

The introduction of new aircraft means that aircraft maintenance personnel will need to be trained to operate on new machines with changing technology. Not only are there new avionics in the cockpits of these aircraft but there is a growing need to retrofit the avionics in many models of older aircraft. Even aircraft that are less than a decade old will need to be retrofitted because of the rapid changes in technology.

In addition to developments in avionics, changes in aircraft materials are rewriting the maintenance requirements of new and retrofitted aircraft. Composites have traditionally been used to make structural components of the aircraft and are now being used increasingly within the airplane itself. Floors and floor beams, for example, are now made of high-strength composite material. Working with composites requires new maintenance skills and, therefore, training.

Increasing Demand

The anticipated mechanic retirements over the next 10 to 20 years will significantly affect the need for aircraft mechanics. Whether you are already working in aviation maintenance or are researching how to make the transition, there are currently more open jobs than qualified individuals to fills the positions. Retirements will only add to this number.

NAA Named to 2018 Military Friendly® Schools List

National Aviation Academy (NAA) announced today that it has earned the 2018 Military Friendly® Schools designation by Victory Media, publisher of G.I. Jobs® and Military Friendly® ratings.

NAA’s courses in Aviation Maintenance and Advanced Aircraft Systems have been designed so that individuals may gain an in-depth education, preparing them for work in the aviation maintenance industry. Veterans are able to build on the valuable skills that they already possess and apply them to a career field in which 648,000 new aviation maintenance technicians will be needed over the next 20 years.* NAA’s commitment to Veterans has been endorsed by the Military Friendly® Schools designation.

With a mission of making life better for veterans and their spouses by setting the standard for higher education institutions to provide positive opportunities, Victory Media has released the 2018 Military Friendly® Schools list. Now in its 16th year, the Military Friendly® Schools list provides a comprehensive guide for veterans and their families using data sources from federal agencies, veteran students and proprietary survey information from participating organizations.

Institutions earning the Military Friendly® School designation were evaluated using both public data sources and responses from a proprietary survey completed by the school. For the first time, student survey data was taken into consideration for the designation. More than 1,300 schools participated in the 2017-2018 survey with 849 earning the designation.

Daniel Nichols, Victory Media’s Chief Product Officer, stated, “Our ability to apply a clear, consistent standard to colleges creates a competitive atmosphere that encourages colleges to invest in programs to provide educational outcomes that are better for Veterans.”

Methodology, criteria, and weightings were determined by Victory Media with input from the Military Friendly® Advisory Council of independent leaders in the higher education and military recruitment community. Final ratings were determined by combining the institution’s survey scores with the assessment of the institution’s ability to meet thresholds for student retention, graduation, job placement, loan repayment, persistence (degree advancement or transfer) and loan default rates for all students and, specifically, for student veterans.
