National Aviation Academy, a leader in Aviation Maintenance and Avionics Training headquartered in Clearwater, FL, has completed the aquisition of Wyotech's Bedford, MA Aeronautical Maintenance Technology School from Corinthian Colleges, Inc. on May 1, 2008.
National Aviation Academy has interest in Wyotech's Bedford, MA school because of the current and future
shortage of aviation maintenance technicians. Michael Wisniewski, President of National Aviation Academy commented "It’s great to
operate such an important school in aviation. This will help us better meet the
needs of the aviation maintenance community given the increasing demand for
aviation maintenance technicians and the projected growth of the aviation
community".
About Wyotech's Bedford, MA AMT School Established in 1932 and formerly East Coast Aero Tech, WyoTech, is based at Hanscom Air Field and is comprised of 36,000 square feet of space for labs, shops, classrooms, and administrative offices.
Hanscom Air Field is one of the busiest airports in New England serving both
military and civilian aviation requirements. Two buildings form a campus that puts all activities within easy walking
distance. The John T. Griffin, Sr. Building, is located on the flight line and is
30,000 square feet. It houses the school's administrative offices, several
spacious classrooms, as well as shop/lab hangar areas for the AMT curriculum. The Catherine A. Mayo
Building is a 6,000 square foot facility and contains modern classrooms and
labs. Located just 15 miles northwest of Boston, Massachusetts, the school is in the town of Bedford, an attractive historic area between the towns of Lexington and Concord, near the Minuteman National Park. Shops and labs are equipped with aircraft and aircraft system mock-ups used to train students in the repair of today's state-of-the-art aircraft. Federal Pell Grants, Federal Stafford Student Loans, Federal PLUS loans, Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grants, VA Benefits, are available for those who qualify. WyoTech is accredited by the Accrediting Council of Career Schools and Colleges of Technology (ACCSCT). Current enrollment is between
120 and 150 students.
About National Aviation Academy
National Aviation Academy began training Aircraft Mechanics in 1969, and was licensed by the FAA in 1970. The school operates in both a large classroom and office facility as well as a hangar facility. All "hands-on" training is performed in both lab classrooms and a maintenance hangar located 1.5 miles east of the classrooms at the St. Petersburg / Clearwater International Airport.
National Aviation Academy is a nationally recognized aviation maintenance training school. NAA's programs prepare students for certification by the Federal Aviation Administration. The FAA Airframe and Powerplant Certification is required to perform maintenance and repairs on aircraft from small propeller-driven planes, to the largest jets.
National Aviation Academy provides a broad aviation maintenance education that gives students the knowledge and confidence they need to be successful as Aviation Maintenance Technicians (AMTs). The program encompasses 44 areas of aviation technology and the regulations involved. Approximately half of the training time is spent working directly on aircraft, engines, and associated equipment for both jet powered and piston powered aircraft. NAA's highly qualified instructors have many years of industry experience and most importantly they have a genuine passion for instructing the next generation of aviation maintenance professionals. Emphasis is placed on the student's mastery of career-related skills and building of self-confidence for entry into the industry upon graduation.
Graduates of NAA are currently serving technician positions with such exciting and well known companies as AEROTEK, Air Wisconsin, American Eagle, ASA, Avant Air, Boeing, Cessna, Colgan Airlines, Continental Airlines, Delta Airlines, Eclipse, Empire Aero, Gulfstream Aerospace, Honeywell, JetBlue Airways, Lockheed Martin, MESA Air Group, PEMCO, Pinnacle Airlines, Southwest Airlines, TIMCO, Trans States Airlines, URS, and many more.
